Head of People Operations
We're looking for a Head of People Operations to own our entire people strategy - a strategic leader who builds the people function from zero into one of Nutrameg's sharpest competitive advantages.
You'll set the strategy for how Nutrameg is seen in the market as a place to work - owning our employer brand end-to-end, from reputation to positioning to how candidates experience us before they ever apply. You'll design the hiring engine that lets us win the best people fast, in a market where everyone is fighting for the same talent. You'll define what it means to be onboarded, developed, and led at Nutrameg, and you'll make culture something we build on purpose, not something that happens to us as we grow.
This is a rare chance to build a people function from scratch at a company already growing fast, with real ownership from day one.
Mission
You'll set the direction for how Nutrameg is experienced as an employer, inside and out, from day one. The successful candidate will create a function where:
Nutrameg can hire fast without compromising on quality or culture.
Every new joiner feels set up and welcomed from day one.
Culture and communication stay strong and consistent as the team scales.
HR operations run as a smooth, reliable backbone for the business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
Build the hiring function from scratch - define the processes, tools, and standards that let Nutrameg recruit the right people, fast.
Lead the recruitment strategy and oversee the full hiring cycle, working closely with the recruiter on sourcing, screening, and interviewing, while owning candidate decisions and closing.
Partner with department heads to translate hiring needs into clear role requirements and hiring plans.
Continuously improve hiring speed and quality as the company grows.
Design and own the onboarding experience end-to-end.
Ensure every new joiner feels set up, welcomed, and productive from day one.
Continuously refine onboarding based on new-hire feedback.
2. Employer Branding
Own how Nutrameg is perceived in the market as a place to work - reputation, positioning, and candidate experience.
Shape our external presence: careers page, job postings, social presence, and everything a candidate sees before they apply.
Build a compelling employee value proposition that makes people want to join.
Turn culture and communication into the small things that make people want to stay and tell others.
3. Learning & Development
Identify skill gaps across the organization.
Build training plans and growth paths for employees.
Make sure people have what they need to do their best work and progress.
4. HR Operations
Handle day-to-day HR operations: contracts, policies, absence, and compliance.
Be the go-to person for people's questions across the company.
Keep HR documentation and processes accurate, current, and built to scale.
5. Offboarding
Manage offboarding with care, ensuring every exit is handled well.
Run exit interviews and feed insights back into the business.
Protect Nutrameg's reputation and relationships, even as people leave.
Applicant requirements
The ideal candidate is a builder and operator - someone who can set strategy, get hands-on when needed, and make Nutrameg a place great people want to join and stay.
3+ years of experience in HR/People leadership roles, including experience building or scaling a People function from the ground up.
Proven ability to own recruitment strategy end-to-end - directing sourcing and screening done by a recruiter, while owning hiring decisions and closing.
Track record in employer branding, culture-building, or talent marketing - someone who's shaped how a company is seen as a place to work, not just filled seats.
Experience designing onboarding, learning & development, and HR operations processes from scratch or at scale.
Comfortable operating with high autonomy in a fast-paced, founder-led environment.
Data-driven approach to people decisions - able to build and read HR dashboards, track hiring and retention metrics, and turn them into action.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident presenting to founders and leadership.
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Familiarity with modern HR tools and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
